Of corporations and campaign limits →
Here I am running my mouth on campaign limits: On Friday, though, area experts and consultants played down the possibility of a torrent of corporate political commercials and campaigns — at least in the short term. Direct political advocacy, they said, usually makes someone mad. “If you bring the boardroom into politics, you bring politics into the boardroom,” said Kansas City political and...

Hollywood's depressing movies are, you guessed it,...
bowlingalleylawyer: randyhaddock: Newsweek never fails to deliver some great humor: You can blame Hollywood’s doom and gloom on the Oscars, but I’m not going to. Instead, I think it’s George W. Bush’s fault. Most liberal directors felt restless under his presidency, and they pushed the envelope with over-the-top, operatic tragedies. Something even funnier? This is not a satirical piece....

Circadian rhythms
I am sleeping more this winter than in past, having decided to give in to the circadian rhythms that tell me to go to bed when it is dark out.  In fact, I think I could approach full-hibernation if my kids would quit interrupting me with their demands for such trifles as food, water, and changing poopy diapers.

what's one more addiction?
The DeLonghi espresso machine was $107 at Macy’s. I drink about 2 or 3 large soy latte’s a day.  If each latte has a retail price of about $4, the machine will pay for itself in less than three weeks (including costs of soy milk). Now I just need to start hoarding coffee shop cups so I can enter with my own drink without arousing suspicion.

regarding my recently deceased father
Maureen (age 3): Dad, did you know that penises and vaginas are the same thing? Penises and vaginas.
Me: Well they aren't the same thing, boys have one and girls have the other.
Maureen: That's right, I have a vagina and you have a penis. And your brothers have a penis. And your dad has a penis--a dead penis.

Maureen (age 4): Caroline, Mom is having a party tonight for her book club.
Caroline (age 7): Wow, so everyone sits and reads their book? That's a lot of quiet for a party.
